Considered to be the closest thing yet to the ultimate eco-car, the TOYOTA FCHV was developed using Toyota's original hybrid
technology derived from the Prius, the world's first mass-produced hybrid vehicle as its core technology. Visit TheAutoChannel.com for more information about all alternative fuels and technologies.

  • At 7:34, a bar graph showing efficiencies of fuel procution and car efficiency is mistaken ( provably by video production company).

Blue bar should be named Well-to-Tank efficiency.( there is no Wheel-to-Tank efficiency)

If it were not for this miskake, this video could be the best educational video for Feul-Cell cars.

  • Remember what they were saying in the fifties?

'By the year 2000 there will be hover cars and robots'. No, fifties people, there's this! But I must raise one issue, there are rumors that the Toyota Prius has to travel around the world an astonishing 8 times to be made, and we all know that is very environmentally unfriendly. So is it the same with the FCHV? And are the factories that make them very pollutant?

Otherwise, This is very clever. Well done Toyota, this could be our future!

  • Wow one of the best videos I have seen... one that not only spells out the promise of the technology but also the hurdles still to be overcome. This explains alot more to the average Joe as to why the technology isn't just "being used now" and also why we should continue to work to develop it. I wish more videos like this were out there instead of all the advertising that the majority are right now.

  • Video is missing the efficiency comparison for plug-in. I think EV's is still the ultimate "eco-car" in many scenarios compared to Fuel cells. Using batteries is more efficient and less costly then fuel-cells when done right. Batteries is getting better and cost lower so also for fuel-cells but more inefficient, slow and lagging behind from what I can see.

  • when the first automotives were introduced people clinged to their horse drawn carriages.

this is a similar stage let's see how the next evolution evolves.
