I don't have anything against Pitchfork, but relying on just one music blog is like relying on one news source. Get multiple perspectives and, most importantly, listen to the music yourself and form your own opinions. :)

Yeah, I know what you mean. I just saw the picture and I couldn't help, but instantly think of this song in the last scene. Terribly well written film with an equally terribly surprising ending. I did like the fact they didn't go with the usual cobblers of a Hollywoodian ''hero saves the world, all is fine'' ending. I think it's important to leave John Smith in shock when addressing such heavy social issues.
And this song is even more gripping now. Damn you dreamy Chinatown.

I'm only 17, but when I first listened to this song I though it was super annoying because of how "old" it sounded at times (think of like the saxophone solos). Despite this, I got really into this song and next thing you know this was one of my favorite tracks.
Anyway, I played this song just ONCE in the car with my mom. And my mom instantly tells me that sounds great.
Its just interesting to me how we both liked this but how she picked up quicker because it was more of her generation's music.

Though I agree there is nothing wrong with seeing what they think of certain music and then giving a listen to see if you agree. If anyone is interested enough in music to visit pitchfork often then I credit them on having their own opinions far more than most folk

Does anyone else relate this piece of music to the 1974 film Chinatown? The film ends with the main character being forced to walk away from the entire story that's been carefully build up in this two hour classic.
