Short demo of the Peavey VK100 head. Didn't know what to play so I just wanked a little classic rock sounding stuff. More info for settings and details.

---------------------------------------------

Amp Settings:

General:
Texture knob 100% Class A/B
no reverb
Presence at 10
Resonance between noon and 2 o'clock

Drive:
Gain 2 o'clock
Bass 3 o'clock
mid 10 o'clock
treble noon

Other stuff used:

ModTone Speedbox Distortion for solo boost (great pedal and not expensive at all):
Tone 3 o'clock, gain a little above 0, volume max

412 cabinet with Celestion vintage 30s

Gibson Les Paul Classic stock. Tuned D standard (or near it) strung with Dean Markley Nickel Steel 11-52.

Pepsi, a Phillips screwdriver, and a disconnected Boss reverb/delay pedal.

Tubes:

1 is Electro-Harmonix 12AX7
other preamp tubes are JJ ECC83S

Power tubes are all Ruby 6L6GCEH (I think. can't remember.)

Audio was pretty degraded by camera mic and upload. Sorry about that.

  • Hiya dude good demo, I have this head and it has all the gain i need especially with the gain boost. The only problem I have is that the volume boost doesnt seem to have any effect at all. Is there a great difference in yours on/off cheers marty.

  • @vainparasite I actually didn't notice the volume boost much either at first. In gigging the amp regularly at pretty high volumes I've noticed it a bit more. It still seems subtle to me though.

  • Hey man, nice playing and tone, one question though... are you plugged into input 2? For some reason I fand Input 1 way too harsh. Cheers!

  • @TheOzzk I think it's input 1 that I use primarily because I get more gain that way. It is a bit harsher though and requires more knob turning to rein it in.

  • Hi there! Nice tone! I want to ask you something. Did you change the tubes yourself or did you have some help in this task? If you did yourself, is it necessary to do any other ajustment or just change it? I mean, do you have to ajust the bias or something? thanks anyway!

  • @dreixxx

hello, please forgive the delayed response. I actually did change the tubes myself. the good news is nothing needs to be tweaked or adjusted if you're replacing tubes with the same or compatible type tubes. hope this helps a little

  • Haha other stuff used: Pepsi Phillips head screw driver

  • I also like putting pepsi cans in top of my amp ;)

  • hello, this is kinda a noob question but i recently got this amp and im a little bit confused about the class a and a/b power and why there are 2 jacks on both my slanted cab and my head? what is the second input for on the cab? also the mono/sterio, i know the difference but should i keep my head on 4 or 8 impendence? it would seem that my top speakers are louder then my bottom ones and i cant tell if they are blown or if its a setting with the amp? thank you for you time.

  • Your playing is great¡¡¡¡

  • pepsi
