Dr. Jonas Salk, Polio, and the Nobel Prize

It is way past time to correct this wrong. Today's parents have been freed from fear of this monster attacking their children because Dr. Salk was able to get support for what was then a very unpopular approach. Consider for a moment, however, polio as today's, and not yesterday's, monster. Would today's glorification of Pandering Cowardice (aka, Political Correctness) support or prevent Dr. Salk receiving the support today that he actually-in-fact received yesterday?

When faced with the kind of moral cowardice which rejects greatness for the crime of being great, one must try to address those who do not reject greatness so they can understand and speak up if they so choose to speak up. The serious medical challenges that still exist, exist in part as a result of denying Nobel's Prize to Jonas Salk's willingness to pursue a path rejected by the vast majority.

@djwusa Actually they do experience the monster that is Poliomyelitis, just not in first world countries. Polio still has not been eradicated in many countries in Africa, in India, and In several south Asian countries.
