A view of 'Sanday Central' from inside the station before completion on clearance test trials. With all the eventual railwayana, original signs and enamel signs and platform machines that created a wonderful 'make believe' atmosphere, this station was to become the haunt of many rail enthusiasts. Two retired BR footplate crew in their seventies from Bradford spent the whole afternoon inside this station on our gold timetable with flasks and sandwiches , the smiles on their faces as they left for the last ferry to the mainland made building the railway all worthwhile.. We often had winds in excess of 140 mph and this station its roof stood up to all the Atlantic threw at us as well as storage for stock.
