I think that its absurd and really counter-productive that the community-built mentality that the technology and computer science field has taken advantage of to grow and advance so so quickly and successfully share knowledge and skills. The medical community needs that in order to make the leaps and bounds the world so desperately asks of them. The only obstacle to this kind of paradigm change in research and knowledge transfer systems is individuals/groups with skewed motivations & intentions!
