In the ultimate travel story, Dr Alice Roberts crosses the globe to find out how our ancestors colonised the planet.

Here she travels to the island of Flores and finds out about it's extinct inhabitants the 'Ebu Gogo', which translates as "grandmother who eats meat". The discovered skeletal evidence of this species became known as "the hobbit".

  • what a huge leap to conclusion! why couldnt it just be a midget with deformities.

  • @moekanz A couple of little things called "science" and "DNA". Plus that woman is an anatomist, osteoarchaeologist, anthropologist and has a PhD in paleopathology, the study of disease in ancient human remains.. I'd say she knows what she's talking about.

  • the locals should be given cameras and a reward for the photo or capture of one.. they are there everyday, they live there, and know the place better than anyone else.. waiting for westerners to come in on lame expeditions is a waste of time and seems colonialistic.. if the indonesians get the evidence it would pile up faster

  • "grandmother who eats meat" that is freaky...

  • This became a hobbit? Anyway did they have hypermobility

  • @pixusbubblejet Indonesians will never do that, because it would be considered disproving the Koran. Being an atheist in Indonesia is illegal.

  • @moatwog You are right and the weakest and less smart pays the price!

  • Hobbits were eliminated for two reasons: They stole food and kidnap childrens!

This sounds to me like hobbits were descriminated and killed just because they didn't share our caracteristics and because they were very small....... Didn't the Bristish tried to do the same thing with Native American Indians? History keeps repeating itself and the weakest won't survive!

  • Something most don't realise about south-east asia is that early "humanoid" migration happened differently to easier east-west migrations further north. There were a lot of groups which made the journey but died out. There is even art-work in northern Australia that relates to people who came before the current native aboriginals.

  • @moatwog women shrink a lot in old age due to bones compressing as they suffer from osteoporosis after menopause. She was likely always short, but not that short.

  • @pixusbubblejet 5.8? 137? you are not small. lol

  • @pixusbubblejet 5'8" 137. My grandmother is about 4'10", though, Filipino.

  • yeah its so creditable from a guy smokin that fatass joint

  • @moatwog so what is your height and weight? lol
