I am back at my vehicle after I had made the first video and after I had moved it to higher ground. The B93 crew, Ionia Public Safety, and Michigan State Police announced around 6:30pm that this first day of the B93 Birthday Bash was closed and that the second day of performances was canceled due to the continued rising of the Grand River near the Ionia Free Fairgrounds.

Many high rise trucks and SUVs were attempting to get out, but some of them could not go any further because of hundreds of cars and other small vehicles that were blocking the safest route. I was not going to attempt what many tried and failed to do to get out of this mess. One red truck in this video tried cutting through the water but got themselves stuck. They eventually did get out, but it took another truck with a tow strap and several people pushing to get that one truck out. What a great day this turned out to be.

Compared to my first video, the water had risen exponentially and now made "islands" out of the parking area. It was just my luck (NOT) that I had parked my vehicle on the "island" furthest away from the exit, so I was waiting with the vehicle while my wife and her friend got out safely on a little ferry pulled by a tractor near the exit and the first "island."

  • so what did y'all do? wait a couple days?

  • Well, my wife and her parents did not want our SUV stuck in the flood waters, so her parents, who are farmers, went in with a tractor and trailer and got the SUV out that night.

  • IC. was fun watching that red truck from the other youtuber's video. Glad y'all are safe.

  • Yeah glad we all were safe after that...although, I was almost arrested because this state cop I talked to, telling him my in-laws were coming back with a tractor and trailer, didn't believe me until my inlaws actually showed up there.

  • Hey another Ferris State Student!

  • yeah, actually my wife is the Ferris Student. We both live in Big Rapids, and she goes full-time here.

  • I probably would have tried to make it across, my truck is somewhat lifted, good tires, and put it in 4x4, throw it in first, let the clutch out and once I got near the water rev my engine up to 3000rpm. Probably could have made it through

  • Well, I imagine watching that river stressed everyone out beyond normal. Peace!

  • yeah, definitely...he ended up creating a hole there...didn't help other vehicles when they tried getting through.

  • look at the poor guy in the F250 just trying as hard as he can to get out! lol
