  • I remember seeing this on a documentary about fifteen or sixteen years ago when I was five. Actually, it was about ten years ago when I remember seeing this clip and getting into David Bowie. But the documentary was something I had first seen six years before.

  • he was the 'nazz'? Did he mean Todd?

  • @dazzag24 I was living in NYC in 1972. A local DJ announced Bowie was leaving the next day for Britain from a pier, and anyone was welcome to see him off. There were only about 10 of us that showed up. I couldn't believe it. We were able to chat with him. He was so gracious and friendly. I guess it was before he really hit it big.

  • OH.MY.GOD.

  • Fantastic sync job. Cheers.

  • TOO good!

  • Thanks so much for sharing this fantastic footage. Visually and as a musical, it's even much better than the July 1973 Hammersmith film !

  • I wish I was there! But i wasn't born.

  • I was 14 and went to see the Sheffield gig on the 8th June: Cost me 50p and there were 200 people in a hall that holds 1500.

Completely blew me away. I went from listening to The Groundhogs to Bowie overnight!

We nicked all the orange 'fliers' from the empty seats, a pic of each band member in each quarter, and handed them around the comp the next day. The majority wanted to know who the 'bloody weird puff' was...3 months later most had changed their tune.

  • That brings back soooooo many memories. I was 14 and went to the Sheffield gig on that tour: 7th June 1972: Cost me 50p...only 200 people in a hall that hold 1500. Was completely blown away and went from listening to The Groundhogs to Bowie over night....still sends tingles down my spine seeing it.
