Boehner on Bloomberg: Dems' TARP Slush Fund "The Worst Idea I've Ever Heard"

In an appearance on Bloomberg Television this morning, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) decried House Democrats misguided proposal to pay for another stimulus with funds from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP.) Calling Democrats plan to turn TARP into a politician bailout the worst idea Ive ever heard, Boehner said these taxpayer dollars should be used to reduce the deficit instead of piling even more debt on our grandkids. Boehner also outlined how Democrats job-killing agenda of bigger government and higher taxes is hurting families trying to find work and make ends meet. Following are video and excerpts from Boehners interview:

BOEHNER ON DEMS TARP POLITICIAN BAILOUT:

Thats the worst idea Ive ever heard of. We passed TARP to avoid an economic calamity, and I have been probably the biggest critic of how that money was actually spent. But the money went out to financial institutions. Now its coming back, and as it comes back, what we ought to do with that money is use it to reduce the budget deficit. Nobody ever had any idea that when this money came back that wed go ahead and spend it on something else.

BOEHNER ON USING TARP FUNDS TO REDUCE THE DEFICIT:

We can reduce the budget deficit. Thats what it was intended for when it came back. And I just dont see any reason to use that money to try to pass a bill thats going to do nothing but grow the size of government. Everything that theyve used the TARP money for, not one of those ideas was presented when the bill was passed here in Congress over a year ago. Not one of them. And there really hasnt been the kind of transparency and accountability that many of us thought we were getting when we passed the bill.

BOEHNER SAYS DEMS TRANSACTION TAX WILL SEND JOBS OVERSEAS, HURT EVERY AMERICAN WITH A PENSION:

Its not going to hit just Wall Street investors. Every person in America that has a 401(K) or every person in America who has a pension, all are going to pay for this tax. And the second part of the problem is that youre taking a real risk that youre going to ship jobs overseas. It will do nothing more than to hurt jobs.

BOEHNER ON DEMS JOB-KILLING TAX INCREASES:

Every time I turn around here in Washington, Ive got Democrats looking for ways to raise taxes. If it moves, they want to tax it. And its just time to say 'enough of this.' Were in a recession. Weve got to get our economy going again. The American people want to know where are the jobs. Their agenda is killing jobs. And the idea of raising taxes in a recession will kill even more jobs.

Not when all that happened was for the benefit of the power hungry, and not actually producing Cleaner air, safer food, or better medicine. Government regulation has failed at all of those, where private industry has made strides.

Just the response I would expect from a sucker. What's worse, giving people what they want, or doing what's best for them? Would you advocate eleviating a crack addicts suffering with a dose, or allowing them to withdraw. The crack dealer would take the first choice, and probably think he's helping.

Conservatives however, have fought for the free market forces that the founders intended, and proved their effectiveness with this countries success. Yes, people profit. In the process, they save lives, create medicines, invent new and cleaner tech, and provide a livelyhood better than any government monopolies ever have. That's what liberals hate about it.
