Amey Caterine Major, student of Jennifer Cawley and Jolinda Crump as well as Pastor and Mrs. Shelburne of First Baptist Church of Land O'Lakes sings "Over the Rainbow" at Freedom High School's "Legends" concert in Tampa, FL April 24, 2009. Amey is a recipient of offers for music scholarships at University of Tampa and (hopefully) University of South Florida...as that's 3.3 miles from her home. Amey Major is a gifted math student who has sought the most challenging of mathematics and science courses throughout her high-school education... homeschooling herself through the last half of her junior year with the help of online courses and teachers and staff at Land O'Lakes Christian School before transferring to Freedom HS in her senior year to avail herself of Advanced Placement (AP) courses and dual enrollment at Hillsborough Community College. Amey lives with her grandmother at the Major Menagerie, the family farm nestled amongst sprawling Tampa suburbia in Lutz, FL, where she raises fifteen head of cattle, three dogs and two cats under the watchful eyes of attentive and friendly local hawks. Amey's dad is a Flight Operations Aviation Consultant with assignments all over the world, her mom is a registered nurse and alternative- medicine aficionado based in Sanford, FL; her grandmother, at 85 years old, still runs her own thriving property management business...in addition to raising her granddaughter for the last five years; Amey's Uncle Gil recently retired as a CW5 from the Army's elite Special Operations Aviaton Regiment where he works as a consultant to the training battalion. Amey's Aunt Heidi and Uncle Steve are electrical engineers with two gifted daughters of their own all living on a ranch in Dade City Florida. See more classical music from Amey Major. Supportive, encouraging and sincere comments are deeply appreciated. The video was captured on a Panasonic Lumix TZ-5 digital camera with a Leica Mega O.I.S/28 mm lens.
