@steveasat2 haha, yes the redshirted violinists all died in a tragic overseas tour accident
-
@tgsimon To indicate that they outrank the redshirts and the science dorks.

@DyerVaper Me, too. I first heard the 2d mve. when CBS telecast the Munich Olympics, (when the Israeli athletes were kidnapped and killed). My parents bought the vinyl with this suite and Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" on it, both performed by Julian Bream. From that point on, Bream and these pieces have become assimilated into my musical being. Fancy talk, I know, but it's the truth.

handcannonsniper has a point. The instrument is a guitar because Bream is playing it like one, i.e., right hand floating and perpendicular to the strings, and plucked with the nails. This is appropriate because he is playing in a large ensemble of classical (romantic period) instruments. For an example of this concerto being performed like a lute in the baroque style, in a small ensemble of period instruments, search Vivaldi Lute Concerto Michael Fields.

I have been listening to Julian Bream since I was in college years ago and his performances are like no one else. Sounds almost too beautiful to behold !
Yes, Thank you !
