if the glich is no detail in the object try pressing shift T do bring back detail works for vertex paint

I have a question...If you have blender does it need to be atleast python 2.5.2 or you have to have just blender 2.5.2???

have you tried tweaking the seting,you know there is a hidden tab above the top panel,you need to pull it down,there you can find all kind of setings,i'm sure you can find a option to choose your draw mode,like D3D or software or something

Yes I have. It's actually a problem with OpenGL support. Intel's linux drivers support OpenGL 1.2 which is ancient (the specification is 10 years old).

The cube should be properly shaded but it's only a contour.
Also, notice how the menus disappear with a sort of tiling pattern. The whole application freezes every time I open a menu, because of that.
Both make Blender unusable.
