Ten years after they started ruling the roads of California, the filmmakers argue electric cars are dead. But here in Alaska, there is a small group of people on a mission to resurrect the alternative fuel engines.

  • No doubt this is true. I built a tapered tonneau cover for my '92 ranger and that alone increased my mileage from 20mpg to 22mpg. 10% is a good start for long distance higher speed runs. I'll definitely look for some LRR tires as I hear significant gains can be had there as well. Thanks for consolidating the list. I will start working on those and post results at http://www.austinev.org/evalbum/756

  • Just making sure your tyres are correctly inflated will reduce drag.

  • LRR tires will probably give you ~20% more highway range. Definately should be looked into. Much cheaper to use efficiency mods to increase range than to pony up for advanced batteries.

Battery equalizers are a good investment. So many people only get 10,000-15,000 miles out of a pack because they don't have the right charging algorithm or a way to keep the batteries balanced.

Please keep the EV list updated on your truck.

  • That truck could dramatically increase its range with efficiency modifications. On the same battery pack, 60 miles range or more should be possible with: -Grill Block -Smooth Underbelly -Tapered Bed Cover(aeroshell) -Rear Wheel Skirts -Smooth Wheel Covers -Wheel Spoilers -LRR tires -Synthetic Transmission Oil -Brake caliper pistons machined down to reduce brake drag -Lightened flywheel By reducing your typical discharge by increasing range, the batteries should also last a shitload longer.
