Sweden's Stefan Nystrand completed a clean race in the men's 50 free to set a record he previously thought he already owned after an earlier stop in the worldcup series. 20.93 is the new world record.

  • Eamon Sullivan has the record in a 50 meter lane.. Nystrand in 25 meter lane.. It' a whole different thing..

  • hey nystrand technique sucks xD look his arms, he doesn't bend his elbow when it's out of the water, and that is a technique that should be corrected when you start swimming :)

  • @BlueflareBoltstrike1 same rofl

  • Crap... My best is like 30.9!

  • Reporter says that Stefan was five seconds faster than Schoeman???, that she meant was actually one hundred parts:)

  • @Dragonstratoforce its a new technique developed by a chinese swimmer. They try to get the momentum from the twisting arm into the water.

  • Holy shit

  • I wonder why he doesnt have any big titles in long course.

  • ehm appearly you don't know nothing about the human body and muscles, when the elbow is bended the muscles are more relaxed that when they are straight, so that little relaxing time means more strenght under the water, I'm not saying that nystrand is a bad swimmer, I'm saying that he can improve some of his technique, and if you are considered an expert in this sport you would know that most little difference in 50m freestyle can be the difference between a gold or a silver

  • The advantage you get from straight arm recovery is that you don´t have to reach forward in the water (like Ian Thorpe) instead you get a never-ending flow in ur swimming and no pauses like when you swim bent-elbows and reaches for water to grab in front of ur head.

The only advantage you get from bent-elbows are that you easier can coordinate.

You know nothing bout this sport.

  • Sullivan swim with quite straight elbows too. Take a 2nd look at the 21.28 race again. But what you do under water is more important than straight or not straight arms.
