Black America: WNW - Ep. 6 - A Rant on BET Programming

I've been going off about this topic for years, so it's only natural it comes to the show. You'd think by now BET would get better progamming to shut their detractors up, if for no other reason.

Sadly, that is not the case.

Actually a while back there was a black soap opera based in Atlanta & it had that kind Boomerang effect they even tried to sell the idea to BET but they turn it down. The only thing I see good coming to BET is the return to BET Late Night news. BET was suppose to air the black panther animated series but rumor in the air is that it was too pro-black lol. TVone reminds me of the black family with their short original program slot.

@lilrog0909 I'm not happy at all at BET not running the Black Panther series. I'm a comic book nerd and was really looking forward to it. It only made too much sense, in my opinion. I read that they've greenlit a new series as a vehicle for Tracy Ellis Ross and are developing a couple other original scripted shows (and Ed Gordon comes back this weekend), so there's hope. But I'll believe it when I see it.

Unfortunately, BET has a reputation for not paying people, so Tyler Perry probably had no choice but to go to another network who was willing to pay more and offer a better programming package.

BET is just another way to keep people, especially black people, ignorant and dumb. All I see is just racist stereotypes. I never see any positive videos there. There are never any videos about positive self building or anything good, and the shows are show nauseating it hurts my head to look at them. Heres a typical example how BET works: Eminem makes a song dissing Michael Jackson, its pulled off. Black rapper makes a song degrading black women, it stays. Amazing, isn't it?

That is the best thing you can do, open your own independent company. Even if you worked at BET and wanted to change things they wouldn't allow you to.

To thebossdave, the sad thing is that they're not stereotypes. It's the truth. I'm what people call "white" and I think that BET needs to get more shows that will show equality and intelligence with white people. You almost put yourselves in that certain place. But yeah I agree I think it should change too.

Unfortunately, there is a food chain for everything...TV is not excluded. The people who really control what America see thru the media have an alternate agenda. If folks do some research they will find this to be more than true. The aim is to DUMB down America, through many different avenues, attacking many different demographics. The part of the population that watches BET has been programmed to be entertained with music awards, reality (useless) tv, & programs that don't promote thinking.

they don't care whether its dumb or slow young people will only watch a show because there favourite person is on it.
