This beautiful Theme and Variations is based on Handel's very famous "harmonious blacksmith". Originally from Suite No. 5, HWV 430 in E for harpsichord. Giuliani's Variations are completely his own and this is further evident in his choice of A major as the key, instead of the equally guitaristic E major in which it was originally conceived. I'm sorry about the end. My camera just could not handle (no pun intended) the size of the file. Perhaps I will record each of the variations seperately at another time.

  • I really like this piece and you play it very nice!!!! Wonderfully! Sarah :-)

  • Thanks very much. I love this piece.

  • your guitar sounds outta tune. O_O either that or steel string. id play the piece a bit more lively cause i jus didnt feel much from it. like whenever i play this i always go off on a tangent just to make it interesting.

maybe split variation 5 and 6 into a diff video so it can be played properly without getting cut off. otherwise its good.

need to figure out what camera or software to use to record stuff so it sounds halfway like my guitar does. lol

  • Thanks for viewing. I've thought about recording each variation seperately but I have been holding out till I acquire a new microphone.

  • Well played. But it soiunds like a steel string guitar, not a classical (though I can see it is a classical)...I do wonder why you play the guitar so close to the bridge. It usually sound best played over the hole. Check out Celedino Romeros performance of this piece on "An Evening with Celedino Romero." (Delos CD)

  • Steel string huh? How curious? My mic on this camera really is crap. But seriously I tend to gravitate a little south of the sound hole to gain volume, because of my playing sans nails. The tone really does stay mellow but I guess the world will have to wait until I can post some quality recordings. Unless of course you hear me playing live. (which is not here) and thanks for your comment I will definitely listen to the Celedino Romero version.
