This critical statement has certainly nothing to do with nonsense as "making people dream" and sharing it with others. Is the need for sharing not narcissistic ? Not everyone climbing up a mountain feels the need to proclaim it when coming down.You can't stop taking showers to save the world's waist of water but you might as well try to minimize them (even without getting smelly).

indeed, and I think that is what Xavier intended to do.

For the respect, I was talking about respecting the environement.

To reach the goal of this adventure, he got on a plane, brought some technology with him (solar panel, camera...) but what he experienced on the island did go way further his expectations.

And I guess a lot of people will be happy to watch somthing thanks to those items, so this is the narcissic side you are talking about. The same as actors or politicians I guess.

Technology is ruling our daily life, even on a so called desert island. Is all this narcissistic fuzz on the net and through a live adventure website really necessary? Next time, go there and be quiet. Even if you come back. The way this professional adventurer "manages" his project (book, documentary, website etc etc) makes it unpure, lifeless and implausible. How can you blame the world for its its technology and polution, while participating in it ?

in order to make people dream, some people actually are DOING something and then SHARING it with others. You can disagree, no hard feelings, but where is the limit between respect and necessity. You obviously didn't get that Xavier doesn't blame technology.

On the other hand, would you stop having showers to try to save world's waist of water?

Reaching for a greater goal and getting there without spreading it is an amiable behaviour. You could also call this type of behaviour « humility » and there is no way one can call « humility » unpure.

How pure is a lovesong playing on the radio ? How pure is the tune of a singing child in the African savanna, how pure is a budhistic monk or a Kuju-drummer ? How pure are ethics? Arent ethics the newest marketing-standard in our « moral » economy? As long as the lifegoal of a person remains personal and unselfish, the chance of pureness is existing.

When the goal aimed for is unselfish, man can strive for a successful end, both in the preparation and in the implementation of succeeding. It could be the protection of a threatened natural reserve area, fight against child labour, oppose the whale-hunting, but it might as well be : questioning the world, its human population and their ethics.

The answers to all these questions do not contribute to what purity might mean. I only can try to say what « purity» means to me. When a person tries to reach a goal he aims, and this goal is everything but him, that sounds like purity. Which depths one dove, which peak one climbed, which forests one crossed doesnt matter. Its about how a person deals with it and what the real reason is for aiming his/her goal.

Did I travel the whole planet with a minimum of money and possessions ? Did my feet take me where my mind wanted to go ? Did I dive the deepest blue and climb the highest peaks ? Did I absorbe what I saw, heard it, felt it ? Do I « know » ? Was it pure ? How do I pursue purity ?

Pasquello , Instead of commenting in a strong way " unpure, lifeless and implausible" what do you have to bring to the discussion regarding yourself, do you have an example coming from your personnal life that is "pure and plausible" ?

I met Xavier yesterday during his first speech to an Audience, we were around 60 people, Xavier does not blame the world, does not blame the technology, he was very thankfull about everything he had, there is 'ultimate' notion of pure or unpure adventure, he just made some conclusion about his trip, statement, in a very honest way and it was very touching.
