Naturalist Eustace Conway, subject of a biography by "Eat Pray Love" author Elizabeth Gilbert, has lived off the land since he was a teenager. Here he shares insight from a life lived close to a deeper reality most of us hide from.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxAsheville, where "x" = an independently organized TED event. At TEDxAsheville, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

This man is REAL!! Ha Ha Truly a beautiful soul--we need more like him. Great message that direct experience is the best teacher and that anything is possible. Believe in yourself and accept others even with all their limitations and Fear. Love Life and be open hearted you might be surprised at the grace you'll find. just finished reading the last American man by Elizabeth Gilbert. a very well written book about the life of Eustace Conway! i recommend it to anyone, and i feel Eustace has inspired me to focus more on my individual goals and visions and turning them into realities.
