The Anwar - ul Islam Model College was established in 1948 at Olushi, Lagos as the First Muslim Secondary School known and named Saka Tinubu Memorial Ahmadiyya High School.
In 1956 Saka Tinubu Memorial Ahmadiyya High School transformed to Ahmadiyya College and moved to its permanent site at Agege where the School is presently situated on wide area of land.
The School Motto is "AUT OPTIMUM AUT NIHIL" which means "EITHER THE BEST OR NOTHING".
There is no doubt that this motto spurred the Students to great achievements.
The first Principal of the School was J.J. Thompson Haggans followed by many other Principals.
The current principal of the School is Mrs. H. Adewale who was former Deputy Principal at
Igbobi College before she was employed by the Movement.
Alhaji J.A. Gbadamosi, OON ad former General Secretary of Anwar - ul Islam Movement of
Nigeria was one of the Principals of the School and in fact the longest serving Principal from
1960 - 1976. He was very much admired by the Old Students of the College. In fact he is
described as Emeritus Principal of the College.
Some of the Old Students honoured him by donating a well equipped Library to the College named "Alhaji Jimoh Adisa Gbadamosi Library" by the 1969 - 1973 set of the College Old Boys.
