1934 wasn't much different than today with the never ending economic depression. By then, after 5 years of economic misery, they probably began to accept it as the new normal much as we have in 2012.

What a way to celebrate! To think all the things that were to come in 1934. Queen Mary & Normandie were still being built! And the Mauretania was STILL in service. Wow.

I just randomly surf the net looking for old video clips. Websites like british pathe and gaumont have good stuff, but the majority can be found in the extras of old DVD movies.
