Makani the Pet Chicken

ADOPTED 1-31-08!!! Makani is the sweetest laying hen we have had at the shelter in a long time. She is very easy to handle and is used to spending time with shelter staff and volunteers. She even started laying eggs! When you hold and pet her, she starts to relax and close her eyes. It is very relaxing and she is a great stress reducer. She likes to explore and help eat worms and snails on rainy days and perch up high to check things out. She was very gentle with ones of our resident guinea pigs who decided she was his new best friend (see her video). She is currently living at the Watsonville Animal Shelter. www.FOWAS.org

she is a beautiful chicken... I'm still trying to upload more videos on my account I'm still learning how to use my youtube account so I can share with the world on how they give me joy of keeping such lovely birds. I love the way they sound when they're doing there thing that chickens do.

@spamagatti i usually keep about 9 hens and about 3-5 roosters. i don't think i've ever butchered a hen, and i don't think i could. the eggs are too good, lol. i do butcher roosters. all of my chickens are free range and treated humanely, even the ones i raise for food.
