  • why can't martial artists at these open tournaments do a proper Ki ai ? always too much growling and vocalizations

  • My fucking head hurts from watching this shit. This is not kobudo, this is not karate, this is MGM/Universal/20th Century Fox Karate Kid, Power Ranges unmitigated horseshit. I've trained in Okinawan and Japanese martial arts since 1972, it is a pity to see someone who clearly has some talent and who could use some proper "classical" kobudo training (not to mention a real bo) perform some silly made-up stick waving baton drill team exercise punctuated with yelling (not kiai mind you). It sucks

  • @Elurin I respect your opinion, but I train in Can-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu which is self-defense. My Senseis tell me to kiai since it helps you breathe. Also, if ever you're being attacked on the street, it's a good habit to have loud kiais to attract attention towards you while you defend yourself in case there are people around to help.

  • @NinjAngel48 I have trained in traditional karate and taekwondo, both have different versions of kiai. Traditional karate kiai, is a short, powerful burst that starts deep in the diaphram. What is refered to as traditional taekwondo has a kiai similar to karate. I remember at my orange belt test, one of the masters demostrated a proper kiai next to my instructor; he said 15 min later ears were still ringing

  • @NinjAngel48 Sorry to disagree with you here, but breathing is not Kiai. traditional karate teaches pronounced breathing out with each technique, especially in kata; some people expell breath so loud it may sound like a weak kiai; in tournaments, in kata competition, people try to kick it up a notch so they're breathing is so loud and kiai becomes a growling scream: this is not martial arts, its just for show

  • @Elurin Ki ai's are to help you breathe while doing any technique. It Doesn't matter how you ki ai, as long as you breathe so you don't get light-head and pass out

  • this is pure shit. traditional? no fucking way. this is the epitome of bad kobudo. this guy needs a good ass-kicking to shut him the fuck up. what a pompous idiot.

  • @Elurin Amen brother i hate that to, maybe 1 or 2 ki ai is fine but that no!!

  • Do any of you guys no anything about Karate/Forms/whatever?There's lots of grunting and yelling.

  • why do they all scream like they have large pole shoved up their arses ?

  • RA CHI RA CHU RA KIAMAAAAA!

  • @specterprime1957 I do believe that isn't traditional form
