In this video I demonstrate the execution of several PS2applications from the HDD OSD in a PS2 console model SCPH-10000 without any kind of hardware modifications.
The "BOOT" content displayed on the HDD listing was build using uLE for creating the partition, an PC HEX editor to "inject" the OSD boot settings and 3D icon/information and uLE finally to place the bootable file (modified Magic Gate encrypted ELF) within the partition with proper name.

Can you show how you do this, I have PS2 30001 + HDD and the HDD OSD files, I know how to load it for the .elf file in ule but how to boot it, + how do you boot .elf's in the HDD OSD

Nice so this is using a PS2 w/ the PMCIA HDD? How is the speed vs one w/ an internal HDD? Also, can you use HD Loader w/ a PMCIA HDD one? I mean, it looks like it!

HD Loader does not work with PCMCIA HDDs but
Open PS2 Loader (OPL) does.

@leonardoliveira Where did you buy the SCPH-10000 and External HDD? I can snag the 10000 off of eBay myself, but where did you get the HDD? If you're in Japan, maybe you could buy one for me and I'll pay you what it costs plus shipping?

I'm in Brazil. I have 3 hard drives (1 retail and 2 devkit ones) but only one PCMCIA network adapter. The two spare (dev) drives I got from ebay but the retail kit came from Japan in 2002.
I'd suggest you buy the devices on Yahoo auctions Japan through a proxy.

Embed. Basically, the encrypted file is unpacked, an portion which is compressed but not hashed is found, the file is "contamined" with an trojan and re-packed.
This is the method used by Free MC Boot to launch it's payload.
