The problem with getting real portrayals of Latinos on tv and film is writing. You need Latino writers who know our culture inside and out and also know how to get the money to produce it. Most of mainstream America sticks to stereotypes not because they think that is the way all Latinos live, but because the reality is that the amount of Latino writers and producers who are good at both art and business is very slim.

Crazyhawk the truth is writers write about what they KNOW. Period. If they are all white or Jewish and middle or upper class they are not going to be able to write about Latin experiences and do it with complexity and finesse. It aint gonna happen. MONEY is needed to produce quality programming.
