Squarepushin on the Akai APC40 - Ableton

@everyone - Since there is so much discussion, I'll explain why I made this video.

My friend DiViNCi (solilla.com) and I do improvised electronica shows. He uses MPCs and makes all the beats live. I told him to check out Ableton, but he's more of an MPC "purist"... even though he could do the same exact thing through Live. I put this video together about 48 hours after getting the APC just to show him what it (and the software) was capable of. The APC was designed as a mixing control surface more than a performance instrument. I wanted to show that with the right setup in Live, and with properly prepared clips, that this thing can be "played". And yes... the randomization is intentional. a couple questions: is the backing track appearing on the grid or is is off view?

how was the ableton session set up, all the clips we see are what?, 1 beat loops of different one shots? and the clips set to legato? witho or without quantize (like 1/32nd or so?)

@muzik4machines backing track is just a loop. other questions can be found in previous comments. anything that isn't answered there, I would not remember at this point. I did this video 2 years ago.
