The PetSafe patio pet door is constructed of heavy-duty aluminum and has a single pane glass insert with a single flexible flap. This door comes with a slide in security panel to lock off pet access through the door. The Ultraseal Flap system of this insert is designed to insulate and seal the pet opening. These flaps have multiple ceramic magnets embedded in the vinyl to ensure that the flap stays closed after your pet uses the door. The flaps are installed with ease and are replaceable when needed. It is important to consider the step over rise height when ordering this door. The step over rise is the distance between the bottom of the patio insert and the bottom of the pet opening. The PetSafe patio insert comes with a 2 rise in the small and medium pet opening sizes and either a 5 or 9 rise in the large pet opening size. The top section of this patio insert is self adjusting and is designed to be permanently secured to your sliding door with self tapping screws which are not included. The total width of the top section is 1 and has a top channel measuring ¾ of an inch. If your sliding door has a top channel measuring less than 1 inch, this patio insert may not work with your sliding door. This insert will work with most vinyl, wood and metal framed sliding doors. The bottom section of this insert has a total width of ¾ of an inch. The bottom C channel measures 5/16 of an inch and can straddle any bottom center guide rail 5/16 of an inch or less. The bottom section, like the top, is designed to be secured to your sliding doors frame with screws. If your sliding doors center guide rail is larger than 5/16 of an inch this insert may not work for your sliding door. The PetSafe patio insert comes with a locking mechanism so you can lock your sliding door directly to the insert. You can also use an aftermarket pin lock mechanism, security brace bar or wooden dowel to immobilize your sliding door.
