@jimmyshand 99% is a definite exaggeration. First off, there are all kinds of music geeks. Not just my kind in solid classical music history. Secondly, major and minor are very simple concepts that I'm sure more people know of. If you've been in band, choir, or orchestra at your local school district through high school, yeah you'd know what I'm talking about. (a general "you", not You specifically).

The reason people think I'm musically ignorant is because of my controversial opinions.

@SpankyThick69 The mainstream music industry is all based on money. They have money to promote musicians to the public. And the media has a lot of power over people, simply because they don't have to work to find that music.

Also, musical interests are built up over time, and typically after listening to certain sounds repeatedly (with variations), you tend to like those best. Combine the media with that fact, and this is why VSQ doesn't trump Bieber.

@CatFlashBlue Yeah, I came off quite harsh...apologies. I still believe that 99% of people won't be thinking "this should be in minor," but again, that's why 99% of people watching/listen aren't music geeks :)

I also don't think you're ignorant in music theory at all; you clearly know what you are talking about, so, your opinion should be taken seriously.

@jimmyshand Haha you somewhat exaggerated my comment. In the right context my music theory knowledge works. That minor-major key playing is the heart of the song and is the entire reason why the song is so amazing, intricately sad and yet wistful and accepting. I made one comment not 2 combined comments dealing with music theory. Secondly, 9/8 and 12/8 are very minor differences and barely noticeable if at all when hearing. But what I said was VERY big.

99% of the people listening to this song are going to have ZERO clue as to wtf you're talking about; they're just going to enjoy the song. You're so pedantic.

Even other musicians won't listen to cover songs and think "oh, damn, the 4th measure should have been minor right to the 12th measure...and the whole first half of the song is supposed to be in 9/8, NOT 12/8!!! Blasphemy!!!"
