  • I think the witch needs a better bra :P

  • Hello!

I think the booing was a joke you know, it was like booing the baddie in a pantomine - especially since this opera was staged at christmas and aimed at children ;)

  • That must have been tiring for Diana to hold position like that for so long.

  • I was there, Anja sounds HUGE in opera house.... in curtain call several people who know how great she was/is gave 'brava' and the rest some friendly boo.

I think for general non-opera audience, if you got boo for this role, it's actually a applause.

  • @GregOpera thank. you.

  • @Excellounge24 when i am able and figure out how i will send you christa ludwigs witch. i dont like to bash opera singers too, and i have never been a fan of silja, but even if you are not booing her, you will def see that the witch's role benefits far more from young, vibrant singing. at least i hope lol.

  • woa the hanging kids are creepy...

  • It seems to be popular today to take a composer's creation and twist it into something totally unrecognizable from the original libretto.

  • Exactly, I personally think it's fitting the character. It's an old mean woman, a very smooth warm voice is not something you would consider a witch.

That's why I really can't understand why they booed her! Even after what she has given opera!

  • Silja's voice warbles/wobbles , but I guess that's what the witch should sound like.

Not a very beautiful voice XDDDD...to be fair, she still gets the notes.
