The causes of depression are different, depending on the person experiencing it. The majority of depression is situational and temporary. Situational depression is the most common and most of us experience it at some point in our lives. Examples include divorce, job loss, loss of loved ones, unfulfilled expectations, over-reacting or misinterpreting life events. You know, stuff that happens in life and affect us all.
If depression is not situational, here are other possible causes:
- Biological causes are due to changes in the chemistry of the brain, such as imbalances of important hormones and neurotransmitters. This could be the result of having a poor diet since most of hormones and neurotransmitters are obtained from food.
-
- Genetic causes are the result of what you inherit from your parents. If your parents have a vulnerability to depression, you could have inherited their coping style.
-
- Environmental factors (or emotional factors) resulting from stressful emotional situations caused by those around you.
--Depression is not a mental illness as pharmaceutical companies are trying to tell us. They'd like us to believe it is a mental illness and the only way to beat it is with the use of their drugs. Follow the money trail.
There are many natural treatment options for depression.
First, there are amino-acid supplements such as L-Tyrosine and L-tryptophan. They trigger the production of a number of important neurotransmitters in your brain that alleviate feelings of sadness, nervousness, irritability, and frustration.
Second, there is vitamin and mineral therapy. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can cause depression. Correcting such deficiencies with Vitamin B6 and B-12, Vitamin C, folic acid, Omega 3 Fatty Acids and magnesium seems to be helpful.
And third, there are phytomedicine considerations that include St. John's Wort, a herbal depression remedy made from a plant with the same name that is commonly used in many European countries and -- wait, let's see if I can get this right - 5-Hydroxy-Tryptophan or 5-HTP, a natural antidepressant made from the seeds of the Griffonia Simplicifolia plant. 5-HTP increases levels of serotonin, the mood enhancing neurotransmitter.
So, now you know what causes depression and how it can be treated. But I hope you won't need this knowledge. Keep busy, healthy, happy -- and depression-free!

@ajhrockerboy6 What do YOU think is causing your depression?
EncognitiveVids 4 months ago
@EncognitiveVids i used to play my guitar and and have more fun over the summers. Last summer i didn't do that. instead i was watching stupid videos on the atheist experience. i think some of that crap has changed my subconscious. i need to rewire it again and become a catholic again because i'm tired of this depressing lifestyle that i've adopted.

@ajhrockerboy6 The cause of your depression might be social in nature. Based on what you've written, you know the answer to overcome it. All the best to you.
