This is the full version of a short film we did for the Empire Film Magazine 'Done in 60 seconds' film competition, where you must remake any existing film in 60 seconds in you're own way. We chose The Matrix (1999) as it was an inspiring film and still is today! Yes, Trinity is not in our version as she had the weekend off, so took a holiday to Spain!

The team made this film in one weekend over 2 days in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, UK. We found many locations spare of the moment, the only organized locations was the dojo, the living room location (the red pill/blue pill scene), the Chubbs Building at Wolverhampton University (where Agent Smith is interrogating Morpheus) and the warehouse and office space at Dark Circle Martial Arts (check out their website for martial arts equipment at: http://www.darkcirclemartialarts.co.uk

This was a lot of fun to make and also very hard work as we had a lot to do in 2 days, also some of us were carrying injuries, which doesn't matter as a team we are limitless. We did no rehearsals, because the members of our team don't live in the same cities, we are spread out across England, from London to Manchester. Most of the Warrior Dynamics team meet at the Kunyu Mountains Shaolin Kung fu academy, Shandong Province in China.

We liked the action in The Matrix as it suits the story, environment and the characters in the film. It was also simple but effective (minus the wire-fu work). Yuen Woo-Ping is the best in the business when it comes to martial arts action choreography and he did some great work with the actors who had no previous martial arts experience before shooting the original film.

Our film was shot on a Sony Z-1 HDV 1080i camera and edited using Final Cut Pro 6.

  • 4:17 made me laugh so hard hahaha

  • Very amusing Asten, i think a few copyright infringments took place there but it was funny to see you guys in action, shame you didnt film it all with that wide angle lens you used in the outside scene

  • besides being done in over to days, we had a budget of £0. let us know what you think.
