Lang Lang is like a modern SLR camera, really contrasty but artificial; Richter is like an old summitar lens with the parfum of the 40s.

I didn't understand how big could be the difference in feeling between two different master interpretations... First I came at Lang Lang's due to Youtube, and finally I've arrived here... My God, my heart knows really well which one belongs to eternity. Thank You Mr. Richter

WOW! The hungary this is better than richters hungary recordings, in which he plays an A bass note in the first G Major chord, (still good though)

Dong Dong feels ashamed.

@alienalienss I hear and know exactly what you mean! I just heard a good friend of mine perform the whole thing for a master's degree recital; a balance between Liszt and Schubert is paramount with this!

@Sinfoniette What a load of utter nonsense. Whilst I accept difference in opinion, it's laughable that you think you can criticise on the composer's behalf.

This comes across as better than Pollini's, even with the low sound quality. Not that I disliked Pollini's. But when Richter plays it, you can hear why Liszt loved this piece so much.

Various performers interpret differently according to their teachers. Most people have a different outlook on most things, force, dexterity, textural interpretation, feel and touch with the composer, etc, but can any one performer really understand EVERY composer, and interpret.?
Lang Lang : are you listening ??

This is way better than Bang Bang's. His so-called-rendition makes Schubert roll in his grave!
