This is an original KuKa RotoPress from Germany.
The patent of this system is owned by the Faun firm in Germany which took it over from KuKa.
Maybe the reason of an opposite turning direction is that the Japanese firm doesn't have to pay interest of the patents of the KuKa system.

I love how the garbage man is wearing a top hat. Pretty fancy!

@Tokiwaji I also noticed that in the Japanese videos, the drum rotates in the opposite direction. Why is this?

とても興味深い動画ですね。
また、日本とは回転方向が逆なので新鮮さを感じます。
どこの国の車でしょうか?
☆☆☆
It is a very interesting video.
Moreover, because the direction of the rotation is opposite to Japan, I feel freshness.
Of what country car is it?

It consists of rotating drum with spiral vanes attached inside of the drum. At the end of the drum (the hopper) is a fixed structure where workmen empty the refuse. It fits closely to the rotating drum, with and entrance opening on the left side. As the refuse is dumped in the hopper, it lands on the rearward edge of the rotating drum and is carried through the entrance opening and into the body. Think of it as a cement mixer, only it takes things in instead of spitting them out.
