This video explores Rin's life. The goal is to die through any possibly means; in this instance, Rin dies after going through the Lands of Dreaming and Life. The player then gets reincarnated as Jin, one of Tong Nou's nine "lost souls," and dies instantly.

Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong Nou is a 1995 adventure game by experimental artist Osamu Sato's studio OutSide Directors and Sony Imagesoft. The game takes place on the living, soul-swallowing island of Tong Nou where Rin has traveled to retrieve his soul. Using an illustrated guidebook, the player must guide Rin through nine lives of creatures from Tong Nou, learning the interplay of life, time, dreaming, and desire in the process. Eastern Mind relies heavily on philosophy and surreal imagery to compliment its non-linear, meandering pace.

  • @thomasberkun When time allows, absolutely. :) It's a tough one to crack given the non-linearness of it.

  • That is agreeable. I mean, there is a lot of zen to this whole dealie and it does get deep, but seriously look at those fucking things. It's like H.P. Lovecraft shat out Salvador Dali after eating Picasso.

  • Even watching someone play gives me a headache

  • is this supposed to be a stoner game?

  • How would I go about downloading this game on XP?

  • If i may ask, how did you get this game to run on windows 7 or vista?

  • $10 says the game developers of this have all tripped on acid.

  • wat

  • @Master1Icy What does that have to do with me thinking the game is easy? I did go through the trouble of understanding this game

  • @Whompman9000 I started playing this game at the age of 5 or 6 and didn't have a chance to play it again until a year or two ago. It's a rare game and actually has ties to eastern philosophy and mysticism, connecting the dots might be your next step if you actually want to go through the trouble of understanding the game.
