It's a reference to all the tours that Simon and Garfunkel went on which eventually took their toll on Paul Simon, hence why he keeps saying that he's so tired. But, as a performer, Simon and Garfunkel have a duty to the audience to keep them entertained; they have to "keep the customer satisfied".
