This is one of a few songs on motherhood I have been working on. This song is a brilliant example of Kate Bush's talent. Musically, it uses a lot of inversions to add to the uncertainty of the lyric. It tells the story of a man helplessly awaiting the birth of his first child, looking back on the life he had with the woman soon to be a mother.

Something about the clarinet's distinct woody tone led me to arrange this song as a clarinet choir, utilizing the clarinet's several registers as unique 'voices.'
