Star A1000 Android smartphone review (from MeriMobiles.com) - HD

Today we'll review an Android smartphone manufactured by Star and sold by MeriMobiles. MeriMobiles, a Canadian online reseller, is really the only safe way to buy Chinese electronics, with good customer support, and good prices. Overall this phone is a good buy, but not without flaws. I can see Shanzai Android devices getting even better over the rest of 2011.

i bought this phone but its not calibrating the touch screen . can any1 know do i calibrate the screen ? or is there any android app to calibrate the touch? thanks............

@TheAm1r I had the same problem. Here's how to fix it. Hold and press volume down button and then hold down the power button. Once the factory mode loads, use the volume buttons to select "Item test" and use the photo capture button to enter it. Then use the volume buttons and capture button to select "Agold factory," then press the capture button yet again. After that, just restart and it should work fine.

@thatapplegeek -- When i select the agold factory menu by pressing the camera button, it returns to the previous menu and nothing happens with the calibration. Does the calibration process start after selecting agold factory ? if it is , then why its not showing in my phone ? . can you please upload the video showing the process how to calibrate it so that i can see , ....... Thanks

@TheAm1r After you rebooted the phone, did it work? Unfortunately I no longer own this phone, it was stolen.

@rebuildradio0114 The battery is acceptable, but don't expect more than a day of average use. If you drop this from a far distance, the display will crack (plastic won't protect the lcd as much as glass, even though it won't crack), rendering it useless. Otherwise, it should last a while.

@TheParodyBomb :D i have both of them and antutu points are 6004 vs 669.

this phone is so slow... cpu float of cortex of optimus 3d is 100 times better. android is working fine but dont even try to run a game on it. 2d - 3fps and 3d is1.5fps

BUT this china phone has TV and dual SIM.

but if you really wanna do my method to sell this phone , i suggest you change the phone from android to windows phone 7 ! it is possible !!!!! trust me , just search on youtube or on google " how to change an android phone to windows phone 7 " and you're all set to make some money !!!!

these clones are just meant to be resold at a really high price by adding the real phone's cover ! for example if you buy this phone , then get a hd7 cover and then sell the phone to some stupid guy for at lest 300dollars ( euros for me :p )

It's a rip off. Just get the HTC hd7... i know because i ordered a star. It stopped working in less tahn a hour. 170 dollars wasted. Waiting for my hd7 now: -)

great review kid! How old are you btw? You definitely sound quite young, but also seemed mature. I like how your review doesn't sound like other geeky reviews where they talk in annoying voices. Also, video and sound quality is pretty good compared to other ones, at least no static feedback. Keep it up! Oh and just one question coz i wanna get this phone as well. I read that it supports analog TV, does it really though? I don't like the antenna cable that you can pull out though.

Thx for the video. I own the same model. It's slow to play, i.e. Angry Birds, but 4 me is fine cause I play music (i put an app to listen it in FLAC), other games, read ebooks comics, etc.

But I had 2 calibrate the screen at least 3 times :S. I did what wrote TheAm1r, went to agoldfactory, press camera button (there is no notification or sound or anything) after it going to the previous menu, press the left button black in the screen, sorry 4 the english and reboot, it works to my cell. Saludos
