541. Alexander Keiths Tartan Ale (Canada) 04/15/11

http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/TheBeeraholics-Beer-Reviews/140606362659192

This limited release from Alexander Keith's poured a copper colour with a thin off white tan coloured head. Aroma was pure malt. Caramel and toffee off the nose. The taste followed the nose with the same finish and aftertaste as a regular Keith's India Pale Ale. A nice change, to the regualr stuff brewed.

  • I thought this wasn't too bad for what is basically a fake Scotch Ale. Beats the rest of their line-up, for sure. Good review.

  • @elharlock Thanks man, to bad it's only a limited release though. I enjoyed the second bottle a bit better being able to enjoy it and not drink it in three mins :P Cheers Denis!

  • A to the K just managed to sneak into the US recently because they carry this stuff at my beer store now. :(

  • @ChadzBeerReviews Yea, saw your video with Denis, I session the regular keiths from time to time, for lack of really anything else. Don't think I could have any more then three of four of these though. Cheers.

  • Nice fair review! I saw this one in cans at some supermarket recently. Maybe I'll give it a try just once. Cheers!

  • @elharlock too bad it's only a limited time brew

  • @albnorhyno Not at all!! Cheers!

  • @TheBeeraholic Sorry, wasn't meaning to sound snobbish or anything if I did come off that way. It's what I'm paid for at my work to know everything I can know about beer...Beer and Scotch are what I'm supposed to know, then we have a vodka, rum, whiskey bourbon rye, and a wine guy.

I have tried to get in there for many years...it's all about who you know there and unfortunately i don't know anyone there. Your right though they need a few different experts not just wine.

  • @elharlock Thanks man, Cheers!

  • @albnorhyno You're right, after posting this looked into the beer. I was told at the LCBO it was a Scottish Ale. They should consider hiring someone who know's beer, it's a shame they have these wine experts that can tell you anything about any bottle of wine but no one that knows anything about beer. I often find myself helping customers when I'm int here lol. CHeers dude!

  • @MrBadassandy Thanks! Cheers dude!

  • I was under the impression it was being sold as a scotch not a scottish ale.....slightly different styles.
