  • I played this game closer to release but Ive only just now managed to play through it. I have to say its fantastic, while im probably reading my own ideas into this I like that the end isnt a "THE END" screen but it just keeps going. You go on a great adventure, seeing the destruction, seeing life, seeing the world and then you end up back at home without any grand revelation given to you but you can think about it and get some revelation from the the adventure itself as opposed to the end of it

  • Thanks for the kind words Pazy160! I'm actually in the process currently of tweaking and polishing 5 Colors for a 1.0 release.

  • I kinda liked this but am confused (as always) by the message. I can guess what green, yellow, blue and maybe pink stand for, and green and yellow kind of makes sense (envy brings destruction, cowardice brings.. uh.. a.. lot of.. no.. water, apparently) but apart from that I can't fathom it out. I associate pink with love, and so love brings a boring empty coridoor? Blue, depression, brings about the sudden end? That even kinda makes sense.

I dunno what purple is, though. Haha.

  • @FungusTrooper Thanks for taking the time to comment, and for putting so much thought into the game. I'm totally a believer in meaning coming out of a work that the creator didn't necessarily intend (in fact, I think all art depends on it), so I think your idea to analyze the colors is fascinating...

  • ...that being said, I have to say that I did not intend for the colors to be taken as literally representative of particular emotions or states of being, as I'm generally not a huge fan of allegory or direct symbolic connection. I prefer to create worlds where meaning is more implicit, subtle, and subjective.

  • I love how the URL for this video includes:

This is a really awesome game, and not just within the context of Ludum Dare. I appreciate your efforts to go beyond what's normally expected. It's minimalist in appearance, but "maximalist" underneath. Now THAT'S exploration.

  • @SonnyBone Thank you kindly for the encouragement!

  • Hmm, I might've done something wrong, but the credits wouldn't come for me. Maybe because I've "lit' the colors in the wrong order (blue wasn't my last), but no mather what I do, it won't finish.

Nonetheless, great game, and amazing soundtrack :)

  • I just went through for the first time and the music added a LOT to the game...I got chills the first time I heard the sound going into the different colors, and after seeing green in particular I started to dread what I would find in the other worlds. Great, great stuff! Hope to see more great work from you in the future. :)

  • Though this is just me reading into it. I also love the graphical style, the minimalist blocky pixel art style can be beautiful.

  • Aw, really? I was pretty sure you meant some kind of message when you said "colors and their consequences".

Wow. In that case green bringing destruction and blue bringing the end are pretty big coincidences then, haha!
