Actually you can use metal. the women in india (where henna originates from) will actually tell you TO use a metal bowl, they think it makes the henna better but really the only difference is if the bowl is stained or not.

@TheWillowsWay It is only better for you if you use "Body-Art-Quality" Henna, like such from henna for hair . com . If you use a store-bought henna, you are taking a chance on getting henna mixed with toxic heavy metals. Hair dye from other countries is not required to be checked by the FDA, so they can literally put anything they want in there, like lead, etc. So make sure that it is certified Body-Art-Quality (safe for skin use). If it says "do not apply to skin" STAY AWAY! Good luck!

not a stupid question at all, and the answer is HELLS YES MAN.
Henna is completely natural, its a plant that is ground into a powder.
And it deep conditions your hair too, just makes your hair very strong and healthy and its wonderful! :)
