Arnel and Steve Side by Side; The Voice Reincarnated

Just a quick splicing of YouTube videos comparing two great voices. Congratulations to Arnel and my respects to "The Voice" Steve Perry. I need to tweak a few things and fix the timing but this is a quick (and yes dirty) comparison of the two voices - wish I had better audio. Enjoy! P.S. This is terrible, terrible, terrible. How can you even TRY to compare the two voices?

Arnel is OK as a singer, but just OK! Steve Perry is the MASTER and THE VOICE! You cannot compare Steve Perry with anyone on this earth as far as I'm concerned!!!

I still like steves version better, sure the asain can replicate steves voice but not the emotion behind the voice.

The true question is if Arnel had been in the band from the beginning would people have listened to the music? Would people have enjoyed the music? Without a true comparison to Steve I think people would've enjoyed the music all the same. Two different singers vocally but I do think Arnel sometimes seems like he's trying to copy Steve!

Steve Perry committed career suicide over a QUARTER OF A CENTURY AGO!! It's over.. It's done... He's done...Journey has moved on to play concerts all over the world and Steve has moved on to do.... NOTHING!!

You are comparing mastered audio from the released video against live "unbrushed" and acoustically imperfect stage performance...not fair Arnel is incredible but not better than Steve.. I don't think ANYONE is better than Steve actually...

@nickellmw Sorry, got to disagree with you on the TBF critique, it's my fav! Most of the songs called for him to sing in a lower key, unlike so much of his earlier work. I think "It's Just The Rain" was about as high as he got. And, I figure, "When I Think of You" was tough for him to sing because it's about his mom and we all know how much he misses his mom! He and his voice may have matured, but he's still great! Love that man!!!!!!
