First: respect Lao culture wearing correctly. No bare legs for women, no bare chests for men. Covered left shoulder for the women going into the temples. I talked with many young lao people; they're chocked by this disrespect, even if they don't wanna talk about it. I spent a very good time in all the country, repsecting the people and the culture, even I was invited by Lao people to sleep one night in their home. Colonialism is over! (Sorry for my english ;-) )
