  • if you never respond emotionally to the things you want, how do you get the satisfaction from achieving them?

  • @mario68079 I'm not saying don't HAVE emotions (like a robot), I'm saying don't respond FROM them, which is imbalance. Most people respond emotionally like Pavlov's dog salivating. I am suggesting we should control the USE of our emotions, rather than being a slave to them and responding on emotinonal auto-pilot, which is not optimal or tactically effective. Make sense? Cheers, and thanks for the question.

  • You are a wise man, HuRyu1

    Namaste, Scott Bolan

  • Thanks!

But don't a lot of visualization techniques emphasize using your emotions to bring what you want to you faster? Example: I visualize a new car in my driveway and FEEL the excitement of having it. And isn't loving someone giving up your emotional power? Sex too? It's as if you're advocating aloofness as the key to having what you want. There's not much feeling in aloofness! This I understand: if someone says something to me and I get mad, I've essentially given that person power over me.

  • I am not abdicating aloofness in any way. I am abdicating OBJECTIVITY and RESOURCEFULNESS at it's highest level.

  • There is a slight problem with this i think,

Youare MUCH more likely to get the girl/money/job etc if you dont want it, this is SO true.

But then, you dont want it, so the gratification these things can give you is proportionatly reduced no?

  • It isn't a matter of not "wanting" it. The title is, after all, "...Key to Getting Everything You Want." It's more a matter of not being so attached to the outcome that you diminish your effectiveness and results.

The gratification is not reduced. In fact, the gratification is even more satisfying when you've attracted what you want rather than getting it non-optimally by overspent emotion and energy and time.

  • This pretty much sums up the things I have been discovering to be effective in my life right now. Thank you for putting it into a simple statement. You sir, made my day.

  • ok my last comment was a joke but you are right this detached non excess meaning attitude is very powerful.

  • u know, not a lot of people come out and say this stuff unless they have seriously dedicated themsevles to a spiritual path. i see things the same way you do. we all have a power inside of us. if it can be molded by praise or persecution, that is slavery. please understand people, the ego is not who we are, it is a tool, a power we can use. i would say more but i think i'll leave it at that.

  • Dear Scott, I'm a Russian guy from Moscow and I occasionally came across an article about your techniques in the Black Belt magazine. You know, I got interested in it and found you here on Youtube and after listening to you I was surprised by the difference between your intelligence and positive energy you radiate and the stupid-oriented way of advertising that is used to attract the DVD and CD buyers. I suggest you consider it. Regards, Dmitry.

  • Yeah, I remember years ago, I got my first steady girlfriend after a horrible period with girls, gruesome teenage mistakes, and having decided - ok no more girls for 6 months, I need time to get my head in order.

Less than a week later this pretty blonde approached me, and soon became my first real gf :)

Looking back on it, it's clear that most of my responses were completely different, after getting that independent, standalone thinking, instead of the chasing from before

  • you can have anything you want as long as you dont want it.

  • This is very profound. Becoming objective to all of our feelings and thoughts can be difficult because of our obsession with our own lives and what we may falsely think of as Justice. Detachment means realizing that we can be influenced by others emotionally - and we can influence others using the same energy. Being a slave to emotion pulls us away from our true self. All this is somehow related to the known laws of Physics. Like Scott says, "Awareness affects Matter."
