I always get pissed when ever I hear about a "cure" for autism. Why do I need a cure? I love who I am and Aspergers syndrome is a part of me.

I'm autistic. Sometimes, I wish I didn't have autism, because I feel like I'm a retard. Do people consider Asperbergers legit? I know when I was little there was a huge debate about what type I had. My mom thought I had Asperbegers and the city (I lived in during that time) said I had another and didn't believe I had Aspbergers, because I was a girl. Most of the time there mostly males got it. But, my mom proved them wrong. I'm still not sure if I really have it or that it's just excuse.

Uh, we are not denying that there are low-functioning children out there. We are sick of being treated like the Jews in the Holocaust. In fact, disabled people were taken into gas chambers just like them. So, I don't know why you support this "Neo-Nazi" group. And before you say we are not autistic, remember that autism is a spectrum disorder. Are you going to say that HIV isn't AIDS? So, don't judge other people because they are more high-functioning than your son. cont.

I want to say this: it is not so much about a prenatal test, though whether autism speaks does it or not, it would happen. But finding out genetic and root causes is the heart of developing more effective treatment. Think of all the autistic kids who were treated with Zoloft, Oxcarbanine, Lithium, Ritalin, etc. throughout the past.. part of finding successful help is understanding root causes. I wouldn't trade my son for anything, but I do favor knowledge over ignorance for treatment.

AutTV: by the way, if you want people to listen to what you have to say, you should practice "Person First" language. The person is first, not the disability. You are people with autism, not "autistics". If we can get society to practice this way of speaking and thinking, we are closer to changing the way society views the world and deals with challanges, adversity, and diversity.

@Taraterm2 the politicians know that parents of autistic kids are horribly exhausted and beaten down and too tired to fight, they will meekly accept the desicion that theres no money and lock Mat or Sharon in their bedrooms. I want that to change, but it doesnt help when Aspies all yell Its a LIE!!!

I want Aspies to say, "Yes,we understand!!! get more money for our suffering brothers !!!we will testify!! but all they do is tell AS to fuck themselves and thats not helpful at all.
