Gate failure at 2011 Auckland BMX Champs

Jan 29th 2011 - Auckland, New Zealand. Despite all riders falling over the gate, there were no significant injuries. The race was declared null and void and was re-run later after repairs had been made. The gate failed again later, but I did not get that on film. Suspected electrical issues apparently. Unfortunate, given that North Harbour ran a great day otherwise - especially with a tropical cyclone having passed close to Auckland the night before. Good work by the track officals saw the track being worked on constantly to improve the surface for riders.

This must be the gate they had before they bough ours in 2010 (They bought an 8 Rider Safety ProGate)

@PROSTUFFLLC Yes it is the gate prior to yours I believe. Your gate was installed in time for the New Zealand Championships held in April of 2011. By all accounts the new gate ran without a hitch. Cool.

I don't think this was 2011, they bought one of our Safety gates in 2010.

@PROSTUFFLLC Not sure what you mean..... The gate issue did indeed occur on the 29th Jan 2011 - as stated in both the upload comments and the video itself. Maybe you mean that it's not a 2011 specification gate system?

Yeah CW545, I think an electrical issue stopped the solenoids from functioning and thus the valves to drop the gate were never opened/closed. Net result was that the gate didn't budge at all.

See What I Don't Get Is These Guts Are Champs? Then Why Did They Try And Get Back On The Bike And Ride? They Should Know If Four Riders Fall Before The 30ft Mark Then It's An Automatic Rerun. Haha.
