I thought I was watching a preview for the show hoarders, " I spend a lot of time sitting here sitting and talking on the radio" he says in the video. well it shows. clean your damn house!

If you don't want to buy an antenna make sure you get an SWR meter and an antenna tuner. Hi SWR can damage the radio. Maybe you know that but I thought I would mention it.

@him3zz Well if you need a handset radio then it gets harder. The only thing i can advise on that situation would be to get a CB walkie talkie with a very long antenna and not a short rubber one. A realistic trc 216 for example. Or get a CB walkie talkie with a detachable antenna and BNC connector so you can buy and install a longer whip antenna on it yourself. You can find all of these things on eBay and around the internet.

@him3zz Hi i was working on that this summer and unfortunately my half built project was stolen. I plan to make a pre-build video soon. Stay tuned.
28 miles on AM with 4 watts is NOTHING to sneeze at!!!

@TheZeke1974 That's true, but it never happened again on this antenna. I suppose that day I was having a bit of "local skip".

Felix, thanks. You've made me start to think. Can you let us know what type of pipe you used, etc, so maybe we can start to experiment with designs as well.

@lmno456 Hi, I just used a regular galvanized pipe, I dont recommend the design seen in this video very much, its just something i threw together one afternoon with junk as i waited for my real antenna to arrive. Whats important are the element lengths. But anyway i plan on putting up a video on how to build a much better version. I was working on a prototype but it was stolen when i left it outside. Stayed tuned though.
