The English batsman -- fresh from a man-of-the-match performance in the second Ashes Test in Adelaide -- was nabbed by a police officer using a laser speed detector.
The 30-year-old was allegedly travelling at 121km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Geelong Ring Rd at 2.35pm, despite earlier vowing to the Herald Sun that he would make sure he didn't breach any of Victoria's strict road laws.
He said he was aware of the the trouble English Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton got himself into in Melbourne.
"I won't be doing any burnouts," he said.
But instead Pietersen was hit with a $239 fine and lost three demerit points.
His management has described the incident as "regrettable".
He had taken the $475,000 Gallardo LP560-4 for a spin along the Great Ocean Rd before he was nabbed by police.
