Hi. In my limited experience, welshies are so-so off leash - great when focussed on you or a task, but if just walking, they are hunting dogs, and will follow their noses, or take off after birds or squirrels. My girl listens really well and responds to hand signals, but there is a 'point of no return' when that instinct kicks in. Great dogs, tho. Thanks for asking.

Are they good dogs off the leash? Are they hard to train to recall? I'm just curious.

Welshie's are the best dogs in the world!!! I have one too... but the breed is still rare in the USA??? SSSHHHH!!! Lets keep the secret to ourselves!!! Belle is beautiful!!
Do they shed A LOT??

No, not a lot, definitely not like a labrador or a terrier. Their hair is silky, and the ears, chest and feet need to be trimmed regularly (these areas are more like hair, it keeps growing) Just brush them a couple times a week.

I am thinking about getting one in about a month. The were just born. I am in the usa by the way. They seem like a great dog.

Are they affectionate dogs?

Soooo affectionate. Belle likes to be near always, gives kisses, and thinks she is a (17 kg) lap dog! She loves people and enthusiastically greets all she meets.
