Gino meets Pavarotti

Gino Badagliacca kam bereits im Jahr 1961 nach Guetersloh und verdient dort bis heute seine Broetchen. Zunaechst als Maurer, spaeter als Pizzabaecker. Waehrend er in Guetersloh schon seit langer Zeit zum Stadtbild gehoert und demzufolge einen hohen Wiedererkennungswert aufweist, wurde er im Jahr 2007 durch die Sendung "RTL Supertalent" auch ueberregional bekannt.

Gino kann singen. Und das gut, auch wenn er nie eine dementsprechende Schule genossen hat. Er singt Opernarien und italienische Volkslieder. Und er ist ein wirklich netter Mensch...

Er besuchte mich unlaengst hier zuhause um ein Audio-Interview fuer den "NormCast"-Podcast aufzunehmen. Danach kam die Idee zu diesem spontanen Video. Es zeigt die rotierende Originalsingle "Nessun Dorma" in der Aufnahme von Luciano Pavarotti aus dem Jahr 1973, hier in der Wiederveroeffentlichung aus den 90ern als "BBC Grandstand Theme". Gino liess es sich nicht nehmen, mit einzustimmen. Und das passierte so laut und wuchtig, dass hier in dem kleinen Dachbodenstudio die Ohren klingelten und die Platte sogar von ihm selbst nicht mehr zu hoeren war. So musste er mittendrin erstmal horchen und alles wieder synchronisieren, was man auch deutlichst sieht. Trotzdem: Es hat Spass gemacht! Fantastico, Gino!

Gino Badagliacca came to Guetersloh (Germany) in 1961 and is still living and working there. Gino has got a good tenor voice but he never got the chance to learn singing in the traditional way. In 2007 the tv-station "RTL" gave him the chance to perform "Nessun Dorma" (from Puccini`s "Turandot") in a show called "Das Supertalent", a kind of "pop idol" and the german version of "America`s got talent".
He made it to No.4 in the end and now he`s very popular in our little town.
Gino recently came to my place in order to do an interview for my audio-podcast and this video was a spontanous idea. I played the vinyl single with Pavarotti`s "Nessun Dorma"-recording from 1973 (the single itself is a re-release from the nineties) and Gino joined the music. This is a very small room up here and his voice was incredibly loud so that we both couldn`t hear the record anymore. And that`s why he stopped inbetween to get it synced again. bin ein riesenfan von gino, kenne ihn vom supertalent (hatte sogar für ihn gestimmt :) ) er hat glaub ich nur nicht gewonnen, weil der andere jünger war.
