Wouldnt you lose resolution when recompressing or batch exporting into a different format like .mov?

Thanks. Very clear explanation. I'm changing from Edius to FCP but not sure if a Quad Core Macbook pro with 8 GB RAM is going to be enough power to run smoothly. Would you mind advising me? In Edius I currently edit about 3 tracks per project. My media is coming from a 60D and an XF100.

Thank you sooo much for this tutorial. I was about ready to throw this program out because of all the time it took to render, after making the smallest changes, just to see I didn't like them, throw them out and render again.
